Founded in 1784 as Böhm‘sche Glaswarenhandlung and operating since the mid-19th century as a workshop for optics and precision mechanics, Böhm+Wiedemann AG has established a position as a powerful and innovative partner for high-tech customers in the industrial and R&D sectors, and has repeatedly proven its exceptional prowess.


FROM SPECIAL GLASSWARE TO A

REVOLUTIONARY HYDRAULIC DRIVE

 

1784
Founding of Böhm‘sche Glaswarenhandlung followed by expansion into special glassware for chemical labs and apothecaries.

 

1866
Merger with a workshop for optics and precision mechanics run by Franz Wiedemann. Renamed ‘Böhm & Wiedemann’.

 

UM 1900
Renowned customers include Justus von Liebig, Carl von Linde (founder of the Linde corporation) and Robert Bunsen, who used components developed and patented by Böhm & Wiedemann in his Bunsen burner. Valentin Linhof is Technical Manager at Böhm & Wiedemann before he founded his world-famous factory.

1958
Awarded a prize at the Brussels World Fair.

 

1961
Expansion of the development and contract manufacturing of complex mechanical components for customers such as the Max Planck Institute, universities and Linde.

 

1983
Entered the Formula 1 arena with the production of components for the engines of the Brabham BMW team. Continual expansion of the customer base.

 

1984
Procurement of the first CNC machines. Establishment of a measuring room – a decisive step.

 

2000
Establishment of the site in Eching.

 

 

 

 

2004
The company is purchased by the industrial engineer Christian Fach. Böhm+Wiedemann AG is certified as a supplier to the aerospace industry. Major customers includes EADS, Goodrich, MTU and Rolls Royce.

 

2007
Establishment of a second site in Cologne.

 

2009
Start of development of the revolutionary
hydraulic drive „Scalax“.
